Privacy policy

In short: I am a band doesn't collect any data. Your songs, their tracks, your recordings and their lyrics stay on your device. The app has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it never sends your music anywhere.
Who we are
I am a band is made by Hugo Arru, an independent developer. In this policy, “we” means Hugo Arru. You can reach us at i.am.a.band.app@gmail.com.
What the app doesn't do
- It doesn't ask you to sign up or log in.
- It doesn't collect personal information, usage statistics or crash reports for us.
- It doesn't show ads or use advertising identifiers.
- It doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
- It doesn't send your songs, tracks, recordings or lyrics to our servers or anyone else's. We don't run any servers for the app.
What stays on your device
To work, the app keeps these on your device, in its own storage:
- Songs you add. When you pick an MP3 in Files, or a song from your music library, the app keeps a copy so it can separate it.
- Separated tracks. A model built into the app splits each song into voice, bass, drums and the rest. This runs entirely on your device.
- Your recordings. When you record your own track, the recording is saved with the song.
- Lyrics. The app writes out the lyrics from the voice track with Apple's on-device speech recognition, and saves them with the song.
- Your settings, such as fader levels, key and speed.
We can't see any of it. You can delete a song, with its tracks, recording and lyrics, at any time from the app. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored.
Like any app's data, this may be included in your device's iCloud or computer backups, depending on your own settings. Those backups are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
Permissions
The app asks for permission only when you use a feature that needs it. You can change your answer at any time in Settings.
- Media & Apple Music, to add songs from your music library. The app reads only the songs you choose.
- Microphone, to record your own track over a song. The app listens only while you're recording.
Downloads by your device
The first time you show lyrics in a language, your device may need to download Apple's speech recognition for that language. Your device downloads it from Apple, not from us, and no audio is sent with the request. This is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Sharing and exporting
When you export a song, the file goes only where you choose to send or save it, such as Messages, Mail or Files. What happens next is up to the app or service you share it with.
Children
The app doesn't collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
This website
This website is hosted by GitHub Pages. It has no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts, and it loads its font from this site. GitHub may log your IP address when you visit, to keep the service secure, as described in GitHub's privacy statement.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts handling your data differently, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change ships.
